The renovations have been completed in three stages. All work was designed by an architect and the interior finishes were prepared with an interior designer.

House – Lower Level; 1991 – the entire lower level was rebuilt and refinished including the replacement of mechanical piping, ductwork and natural gas service, electrical lines and panels. A natural gas fireplace was also installed (capable of heating the house in case of emergency).



House – Upper Level; 2000 / 2001 – the entire upper level was renovated including the installation of all new wood windows with prefinished exterior metal cladding. The original configuration of the windows was retained so the exterior of the house remains intact from the street view preserving the character of the house. A new patio door was installed at the rear, a large deck was constructed and two large skylight wells were completed along the north facing side. Exterior walls were insulated where possible. New mechanical piping and electrical lines and panels were installed throughout. The rooms were reconfigured to create a large studio at the front of the house, a large kitchen facing the new private patio, and a laundry and sewing/craft room. A new wood burning stove was installed in the living room, as well as extensive built-in cabinetry in the studio, living room, washroom and laundry/sewing room.The living and dining room plaster walls were specifically retained  in order to capture the original ceilings and wall arches.


 

Landscaping has been extensively renewed with real brick walkways, edging to flower beds, and rear driveway parking pad. The front yard features a rundlestone retaining wall and rundlestone accent detailing is used in the rear yard. The flower beds are planted with abundant perennial plants for an english country garden feel. There is a rear screened BBQ patio immediately off the kitchen and an adjacent shaded and secluded lounging deck at ground level c/w trellis. There is also a gardening work area with outdoor summer sink, work bench and composting area.

Extensive new ceramic tile, marble and slate flooring added to the kitchen, laundry/sewing room, washroom, and at the wood burning stove and downstairs fireplace.
